Woody crossed Poydras Street and followed A.J. until they came to Lafayette Square, a park surrounded by government buildings. There, he saw A.J. entering the New Orleans Federal Building on the left hand side of the square. He seated himself on a bench on a quiet shady side street named South Maestri.
From his perch, he saw two massive bas relief statues on the side of the New Orleans Federal Building. One was a rendition of what he guessed were two Cajun men and a woman cutting cane.
The other was a picture of three men, one clearly an Afro-American workman, and another was holding an engineer’s caliper. Another man was pointing to a rain cloud.
— If only it would rain.
